Madison Airport Layout Plan

Project Description

Corradino worked with the Madison County Airport Board and Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) to develop a new Airport Layout Plan, financial plan, and implementation plan for the future development of the airport.

The airport serves as the base for the EKU Aviation Program which is experiencing significant growth. EKU hangar space at the Madison Airport is needed. In addition, hangar space is needed for corporate jets to support the growth of manufacturing and industry in Madison County.

Corradino helped develop a phased Airport Layout Plan that supports the anticipated growth of EKU Aviation and the corporate traffic expected in the region and is assisting the Madison County Airport Board in securing the funding required to finance the long-term plan. The development plan includes a new terminal, a new automobile parking lot, two new taxiways, four conventional hangars, three new T-hangars, and a 51,000-square-yard apron expansion.

Phase I of the Airport Layout Plan’s development strategy is the expansion of the existing aircraft apron used by EKU Aviation and the construction of a new apron to accommodate anticipated corporate and EKU Aviation growth. This project also includes the construction of a new automobile parking lot, new taxiway, drainage, utilities, signage, lighting, and striping. The design and bidding for this project was completed in just one month to remain eligible for FAA funding.
