I-40 / I-240 Interchange Modification

Project Description

Corradino is a sub-consultant responsible for providing CEI services on this Tennessee DOT project, which is the largest single construction project ever let to construction in Tennessee. This $109 million project includes the construction of 6 bridges, 16 retaining walls, and 1 noise wall. Once completed, the I-40/I-240 Interchange will be include four levels of roadway with the highest level towering more than 75 feet above Sam Cooper Boulevard and will improve traffic flow for eastbound and westbound traffic on Interstates 40 and 240.

Rapid growth on the east side of Memphis has caused significant traffic congestion and safety issues at the I-40/I-240 Interchange in recent years. As the communities surrounding I-40/I-240 continue to grow, the interchange is projected to handle more than 350,000 vehicles daily by 2035. The construction of new ramps and the widening of I-240 will improve traffic flow not only on Interstates 40 and 240, but also on nearby roads that feed into the interstate system.
